TeePublic and Threadless FAQ

WHAT ARE 'TEEPUBLIC' and 'THREADLESS'?

These websites are not all that dissimilar to Etsy, in that they're platforms offering multiple independent shops the opportunity to sell their products in one market place.  The main difference with Etsy, however, is that both TeePublic and Threadless manage the entire end-to-end process: I take care of the design work and they take care of the rest.  You can find out more by exploring their websites here and here, and if you're already familiar with websites like RedBubble or Society6 know that they're near identical in structure.  (RedBubble incidentally now owns TeePublic)

WHY DID YOU MAKE THE CHANGE?

The primary reason for doing this was one of limited capacity . Opening both a TeePublic and Threadless store has offered me the chance to get back to the most exciting parts of running a small creative enterprise - creating new designs and interacting with people like you - as well as giving me additional time to handle administrative tasks that often get pushed to one side during busy shopping periods or times of poor health.

IS THERE A BENEFIT TO CUSTOMERS?

Of course! Both TeePublic and Threadless are large international companies that can offer fairly traded apparel at (more) affordable prices thanks to economies of scale, plus speedier delivery times as they ship out of bases in both Europe* and North America.  They have a wide range of products on which my designs can be printed, from a coffee cup to a phone case or wall hanging, and their apparel runs up to size 5XL.

* note that at present only TeePublic ships out of Europe. For information on shipping outside of the United States (i.e. international) with Threadless please read this.

TeePublic and Threadless are known as "print-on-demand" companies, meaning that each item is printed for each customer upon order.  This eliminates the long wait between a pre-order period and the items actually being available to ship out, as was the case when I managed the screenprinting of apparel and totes.

WHAT DESIGNS WILL BE AVAILABLE?

I have uploaded the most popular of designs created under both the Curly Sue and Pretty In Punk names, and I am continually working on updating and uploading all other existing designs.  I'm also working on new designs that will be released on a sporadic basis.  For the most up-to-date information on will be available and when please check the Instagram account. If something isn't currently available on TeePublic or Threadless and there is no mention of it on Instagram please feel welcome to send me an email: hallo@prettyinpunk.de

DO THESE COMPANIES OWN YOUR DESIGNS NOW?

No! I still own all of my designs, I have simply licensed them to TeePublic and Threadless respectively.

WHY ARE THE PRICES DIFFERENT TO YOUR OWN?

TeePublic sets their own prices - I have no control over these or when they run offers - but the Threadless prices are set by me. To maintain some level of consistency I have set the Threadless prices to be identical to TeePublic.

DO YOU OFFER COUPON CODES?

As all prices are fixed and set by TeePublic I have zero control over coupon codes and special offers. However, for the first 72 hours that a design is available they offer up to 30% off, so it's wise to keep an eye on when I'll be releasing designs. They do run additional sales sporadically and if you're signed up to receive their newsletter they'll keep you up-to-date with what's on offer.

Threadless also offers sporadic discounts as well as free shipping - this is the biggest bonus by far! For the most up to date information on this it's always best to check the site directly.

CAN YOU CUSTOMISE DESIGNS?

I have made every single design available with either black or white ink - as they would have been if or when screenprinted - and a number of designs are also available in colour. Further, almost all designs are available on a number of different coloured hoodies, shirts, vests etc. This offers customers a wider array of options to choose from. Beyond that there is the scope for me to make a design available in a different colour variant or on a different coloured shirt (if not currently available as so) although I do have some parameters outside of which I won't go, e.g. the All Black Everything designs can only ever be purchased on black apparel.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROCESSING OF ORDERS?

TeePublic and Threadless are responsible for absolutely everything with the exception of the design work. They host and operate the websites, process all orders and payment transactions, send confirmation emails, pack and ship orders, as well as manage ongoing customer service.

WHO DO I CONTACT IF I HAVE AN ISSUE?

Beyond receiving an email to let me know that someone has purchased one of my designs I have access to no customer data - no order numbers, names, email addresses or order status.  Therefore if you have an issue with either platform or want an update on an order you placed, you must contact the respective website directly.

Here are some useful email addresses and links for each platform:

TeePublic: you can email them directly at support@teepublic.com or use their contact form here.

For information on changing an order please go here.

To find out where your order is please go here.

Threadless: you can email them directly at help@threadless.co

They also have a section dedicated to support on their website.

Of course if you are experiencing problems with the customer service or are unable to resolve an issue with them please feel welcome to email me. I want everyone who purchases something from TeePublic or Threadless to have a positive experience and would always want to be informed if this wasn't the case.

If you have any questions relating to either website that fall outside of those answered above please also feel welcome to email me: hallo@prettyinpunk.de
